It's got so expensive in New York that the investment banks are in the 
process of moving operations to less expensive states in order to lower 
the costs for their operations and their employees.  Then as pay cuts for 
employees become necessary the investment banks will have less trouble 
making those cuts in the less expensive environments.  If enough of that 
happens then the costs of living in New York City ought to get down to 
more realistic levels.
