      Jill from AK asks:

How do I change my Windows 7 background color to better match my wallpaper? It looks awful right now!

Ah, aesthetics! You work so hard to make that Windows wallpaper as cool as possible, but the color of the background just ruins the composition!

Thankfully it's easy to change the background color to whatever hue you like, Jill!

      Let's check it out:

First, right-click your desktop and go to Personalize. Now click Desktop Background at the bottom.

In the next window, click Change background color, located under the Picture position heading.

POP! - the Windows color picker opens up and you can choose whatever hue suits your background image's mood!

      Stylin'!

      The Three Guarantees in Life:

Death, Taxes, and Hard Drive Crashes!

80% of People Don't Back up Their Files...

100% of Hard Drives Eventually Crash!

THE CLICKFREE 16GB BACK-UP DRIVE IS AUTOMATIC!

The EASIEST Back-Up System in the World!

      16GB - Automatic Back-Ups - USB 2.0 - Durable Aluminum Body!

CLICKFREE IS THE EASIEST BACKUP SYSTEM IN THE WORLD!

100% Plug & Play Automatic Backups!

256 Bit Password Protection - Multiple Computer Support!

EVEN COMES WITH A WALLET SIZED CARRY CASE!

A Sad Fact, But a True One....

Hard drives are sensitive, complex mechanical devices. No matter what, 100% of the time, they will eventually fail - causing a crash. This can be a disaster.

What will you do when this happens? Sure, you can pull out your program CD's (like your Windows program) and reinstall your operating system. But what about ALL OF YOUR DATA? You know, pictures, videos, files, settings...the list goes on and on. If your system crashes, I've got news for you: that stuff is gone for good!

Now consider this: there's hundreds of millions of computer users out there, and 80% of them do NOT back their files up. Why? Because until now, backing everything up was a long and complicated process. You'd have to find specific things to back up, deal with directories, file extensions, etc. IF you were able to figure it out, there's no way you'd have the time to back up every single thing. I mean...you've gotta sleep sometime, right?

These problems are over for good! We've found an automatic backup drive that does ALL of that work for you! Did I mention it's automatic? Oh...well guess what? IT'S ALL AUTOMATIC!

The ClickFree Automatic Backup Hard Drive is here!

NO software. NO set up. NO time consuming steps. All you have to do is PLUG IT IN and it AUTOMATICALLY finds, scans and saves ALL of your files.

      It's a MASSIVE 16gb of AUTOMATIC back-up space!

Think about everything you keep on your computer: TONS of photos. Your ENTIRE music collection. Work documents, important files and sensitive information. And don't forget about those vacation and family gathering videos. You've gotta back that stuff up!

EXTREMELY user friendly: it'll even categorize your music, pictures, videos and documents into separate areas for maximum organization! Oh, and it works on multiple computers - you've gotta check this thing out!

Ultra Durable Aluminum Construction WITH a Wallet Sized Carry Case...

It's Just the Size of a Credit Card!

Have you noticed that all of the high end computer manufacturers are using aluminum these days? Take Apple, for example, with their MacBook series. That's because aluminum is durable and will protect the sensitive internal parts while keeping them cool.

This back-up drive is made from that same aluminum, and you'll notice the quality right away. It's as thin and small as a credit card, but UNBELIVEABLY strong and durable!

Take it everywhere without worry: it comes with a high quality wallet style carry case! Stick it in the case and you'll be carrying around your automatic back-up system in comfort, with full protection!

If You Think it's Hard or Time Consuming - YOU'RE WRONG!

Seriously, this thing couldn't be any easier to use: EVERYTHING IS AUTOMATIC!

All you have to do is pop it into your USB port and let it do it's thing. As soon as it's done, you'll be presented with ALL of your files, backed up and organized! And there's a TON of cool features on this thing, too. Check this out:

Easy Viewer: open this up, and you can view ALL of your saved files the same way they were saved. You'll know exactly what you're looking at and exactly where it is!

Easy Music: This is COMPLETELY iTunes compatible! Take your iPhone, iPod or iPad, and this copies ALL of your media, backs it up, and automatically places it in your iTunes library! It's always there, and it's always backed up!

Multiple Computer Backups: Go ahead and use it with any and all of your computers. From your work PC to your home computer - Windows OR Mac - doesn't matter, this can do it!

Observe the image below. This is what you're presented with after ClickFree automatically backs up all of your files. Remember, this starts as soon as you stick it into your computer. You don't have to do ANYTHING to get to this step:

A MASSIVE 16GB with Maximum 256 Bit Security!

Since you have so much space, you can EASILY use this for multiple computers - from your work PC to your home computer! In fact, it was designed with multiple computer use in mind. And don't worry about security, either. Check this out!

Have no fear - your files and media are protected by a 256 Bit security feature!

No matter what, even if this hard drive was stolen, there's ZERO chance that anyone will be able to hack it and get into your files. It's 100% worry free MAXIMUM security!

      Karen from AL writes:

How do I reset my Wi-fi password? I forgot mine.

It happens to everyone at one time or another - you forget a password and you can't access a specific account or Web site. Fortunately, most Web-based sites that require a login offer a Forgot Password button that either e-mails your password to you or allows you to choose a new one after answering a couple of security questions.

However, when dealing with the password for your wireless router, there is no Forgot Password button, so it's not quite as easy to reset your password or determine what your password currently is. While the task is a bit more difficult than resetting passwords for accounts and Web sites, it's not impossible.

      Determine Your Router's Brand

The steps involved in resetting a wireless router's password are quite basic, but the exact details will vary from brand to brand. The first thing you'll want to do is determine which brand of router you have. The router should have the brand name clearly displayed somewhere on it. Once you know which brand of router you have, look on the Internet, if possible, to determine the URL and admin login information for the router.

      Log In To Your Router

Open a Web browser on your computer and log in to your router so you can access the password information. The exact URL you'll enter depends on the brand of router you have, but the two most common URLs are 192.168.1.1 and routerlogin.com. These URLs work for most of the most popular router brands, including Netgear and Linksys. Once the page loads, you'll be asked to log in to your router. Again, logins and passwords here will vary from brand to brand, so check on the Internet or consult your user manual to determine the generic login.

Standard logins include admin as both the username and password or admin as the username and password or 1234 as the password, so give these a try if you can't find the information you need online.

      Reset Your Password

Once you're logged into your router, you will be able to reset your wireless password. Some routers will show you what your password currently is, which may be helpful, while others only give you the opportunity to create a new password. Select a password that meets the router's criteria for capital letters, numbers and special characters, then close the admin panel. After you've set your password, you should be able to log in to your router wirelessly using this new password.

Reset Router as a Last Resort

If all else fails, you can reset your router completely. This will restore the router's factory default settings, so if you've customized any of your router's settings (firewall, etc.), you'll need to change those settings again once you've reset. To reset the router, look on the back of the device for a reset button or a small hole that will accommodate the tip of a paperclip. Push the reset button for about 30 seconds, then try to log in to your router using the default settings listed in the user manual.

These steps may seem a bit daunting, especially if you've never changed your router's password or had to reset it before, but take it one step at a time and gather as much information about your specific router as possible. If you do not have a manual for your router, consider printing one out and filing it away with any pertinent notes so resetting your Wi-Fi password is easier in the future.

      Hope this helps!

      Neil from England writes:

I am coming up to the end of my mobile phone contract and will soon be upgrading. I currently use the iPhone, and while happy with it, but I am thinking along the Android line also. Would it be possible to do a article of the pro's and con's of both iOS and Android?

The Android vs. iOS debate has blossomed into quite the war among sides. So, what's the deal? Is Android really the blissful open enviroment that lets people truly customize the device - or is it a virus-ridden monster which has more junk then quality? Is iOS the simple beautiful, functional device that just does what you expect - or is it horrible, crippled and limited by "big brother" at Apple? The answer to everything above is Yes.

      But which points really matter?

Save as PDF Button for MS Office 2007 and 2010

The other day we took a quick look at the difference between Office 2007 and Office 2010 when it comes to easily saving a file in PDF format.

Today I'd like to look at a way you may even like better - and this one works on both versions!

What we're going to do is to look at adding a button to the Quick Access Toolbar that will let us choose a file format for saving before the Save As dialog box opens and without using the Office Button or File tab.

Maybe you'd appreciate a button that works like this:

      Chad from IN asks:

What's the difference between spyware, viruses, malware, adware and grayware?

Good question, Chad! While spyware, viruses, malware, adware and grayware are all bad, there are fundamental differences between the five which might help you combat them.

Firstly, let's take a look at malware. Malware is a general term referring to all of the nasties that can infect your computer, from viruses to spyware! Malware is actually short for 'malicious software'. that's not surprising, considering what it can do to your computer!

Central Pacific Railroad Photographic History Museum

In my Civil War class this semester, we talked a lot about the building of the railroad across the country so, when I stumbled on this photo museum, I knew I had to share it with you.

To get started, click where it says to Click to Enter, be prepared for the very red background on the next page. The first time I clicked to enter it was a shock to my eyes, but they adjusted quickly and the content is so worth it.

For those of you with slower connections, if you click the Faster button, it will change the images to smaller versions so the page loads faster. If you decide you want the bigger images just click Larger to change it back.

You'll start on the History section, just scroll down to read all about the history of the railroad. After you know the history, I'd recommend just clicking Exhibits on the navigation strip near the top of the page, and diving right into the photographs. Once you're in the Exhibits section, just click the title next to any of the sections to explore it more fully. The images provide a look back into our history that we can only imagine today.

As you're clicking through the various sections of this site, you'll notice that buttons the navigation menu change. Make sure you don't miss out on exploring the map section. You know I love maps! I couldn't let you miss them! I got to maps by exploring the Exhibits, then clicking Chinese and learning about what the Chinese immigrants contributed to the building of the railroad, and then I clicked Maps!

If you have any questions, make sure you make a stop in the FAQ. There is a lot of information to be gathered there. I found the FAQ worth a visit just on an educational level.

This site provides an interesting look into not only how the railroad was built, but at an integral part of the United States past. Check it out today!
