Thank you all for this information. I also have the Clasco unit, with a male 
voice that has worked fine with both AT&T, as well as Comcast phone service. 
I have never had any problems with it of any kind. the friend who is 
currently trying to find one has Uverse phone service, I don't know if this 
is the problem or what. Just trying to help her, she does not use the 
computer. I bought my clasco many, many years ago.
