[Electronics-talk] Android phones?

I have friends who use and like the Google Nexus 4. Because it comes
from Google, it runs the latest version of the Android OS, currently
4.3, and because it comes from Google, it will always use the latest
version of Android, and Talk Back, the Google screen reader, and it uses
what is referred to as "stock Android" which means that there isn't
anything added to it that would affect accessibility. I believe that
there is a version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 which is called the S4
Google, and also runs stock Android.

Well, I have my Samsung Galaxy S3 in the box ready to send it back to my
sister. She sent it to e as a present for my birthday and that was
August 2. I haven't been able to use it to do anything. And no one
sighted has been of any help either. Sorry!

Is anyone happily using an Android phone? I've been looking at the
Samsung offerings. They're a lot more affordable than an iPhone, and
seem more available without signing a 2-year contract, too. And Android
doesn't require me to join the Apple cult following, which seems akin to
joining the Moonies or something. But I keep hearing questions about
their accessibility. The things I want to do are make phone calls, look
at websites, and stream online broadcasts.
Thanks.
Tracy
