[Electronics-talk] recording, cd burning and creating cds

Sandy,
I use windows 7 and would love to still use xp but that pc got too old.

The cds I'd burn are commercial ones which are already made of music.
What I want is to copy songs from various cds into one cd.
For instance, I have three albums of the beatles, and wish to combine some
of those favorites on one cd.

I am also interested in how to burn a cd in general. so, how to burn a cd in
its entirety.
Yes, I'm willing to pay a small amount for it.

I'm interested in learning the windows media way so if anyone knows, please
share.
Someone said create a playlist. How would you do that?

I know windows media player makes your files into mp3s. The thing is I want
to play it on a standard old fashioned cd player so mp3 files won't work on
that.

Another question is on recording.
I've never done digital recording unless you count via the vr stream.
What is a good program to record your voice via the pc? Can this program
make bookmarks so you can jump to certain sections?
Should I try audacity?
When I buy a microphone, what should I look for?

Thanks.
Ashley

I have used Windows Media Player with no problem after my friend gave me
some advice. I am still using Windows 2003 version and XP and soon
upgrading.
