Jim, I agree Apple is expensive but please appreciate and understand
they design everything from the ground up and get very few if at all
third party manufacturers involved. When you buy a mac, it's a mac and
nothing else. If you buy a PC however they can come with bloatware
consisting of trial software and useless games etc etc. This is why Pcs
are far cheaper than Macs because Pc manufacturers outsource their
hardware and software to third parties.

I use the software which has many tools as a media player, web browser and Email Client. These are System Access and Dolphin Guide. Both work the same whether one is in Windows XP to Windows 8.1 once you understand the software. I also use Window Eyes. I got my Windows 8.1 laptop from Amazon on Saturday morning during the NFB Convention Stream. The break occured at ten AM my time. I took my new PC out of its shipping carton, plugged it in and turned it on! I started Narrator which now has a man's voice. I did what I needed to set up for Microsoft, then I downloaded the System Access Software. I was accessing my Email and other Serotek services forty minutes after getting started! This is incredible to me since I accomplished this myself! I had to wait till Monday to get the Window Eyes zip file for Window Eyes for Windows 8.1. I finally got it working three hours after getting started. It took an hour and a half to download and install Dolphin Guide.

>> Hello all, I need to get a new laptop, and am wondering if I should get a MAC. I have only had an Asus PC, and use it only for its internet and DVD/CD capabilities. I am a mediocre skills user, able to do mostly what I need, but don't know much more than that about how to figure out more complexx operations. I don't have anyone who can help me with my computer unless I take it to a store. But I thought maybe from what everyone has said on this list A MAC would be better, since I still have Windows XP and don't feel comfortable graduating to Windows 8. Can you advise me? Thanks, Shonen
