[Electronics-talk] [EXTERNAL] Re: Telework/work fromhome/work virtually/telecommute?

I worked Amway in the 1970s. I think that the guy Peter is talking about
is Dick Ossinger, but it was my understanding that his sighted wife did
most of the work. Actually, I have a family friend who made it big in
Anway in the 1960s. He was sighted, and his wife started the business
for a second income, but he quit his job and joined the business when
his wife was making more than he was on his job. But this was the 60s
when Amway was very new. The problem with all of these schemes is that
the people who get in on it early make the money, but eventually the
market gets saturated, and you find that when you try to sell the
product or the business, everyone already knows about it. I know that
Avon at least used to assign their distributors a territory, so at least
they weren't tripping over each other.

This is one of those multi-level marketing deals; I hear the word
"sponsor,"
and I've met Amway people, and a few others who all were doing this type
of marketing.
