Blake,
that is nice. On my stove, there Ii s no difference; I have to use my sense 
of touch and try and see it. I can feel the heat of the burner as I place my 
hand above the eyes. So I use this as part of my method to place the pots.
But it was easier and more exact the old way.

I have a flat top stove and there is a very slight difference between
the eye and the other surface. Not sure if it's like that on all
models though.
