[Electronics-talk] Data plans

Hi,
I tend to fully agree with both of the below. If you are careful and
manage your money wisely, a smart phone is quite do-able. I too do not have
a land line and like below do not spend money on things like manecures...
(my one extravagance being good-quality coffee:)). Plus, as Gale mentioned,
the apps for things like bar code scanners, OCR, and color identification
(which are actually quite good given the size of the camera) are about 100th
of the price of the devices you would by for each separately or are free:)!
it is worth it (e.g., Digit Eyes gives almost exactly the same info as i
have seen in demos of IDMate, is equally as easy to use fro mwhat I have
seen, and does all that the IDMate Quest can do at a fraction of the
price). Actually, the apps are the only real reason that I want the smart
phone. I actually do not really like the quality of the phone's built in
phone and do not really care too much for texting so the apps are what I am
willing to spend that money on. Plus, depending on what carrier you have,
cell phones are often cheaper than what you noted. For example, my carrier
told me that once my early update comes around, between the update fee and
the cost of the phone I will likely pay around $30.99 for a $649 phone so no
where near the $200 price for the phone without the carrier. Also, my flip
phone's plan is only about $10-$15 less than what I will pay for an iPhone
plan according to my carrier, so not much of a difference for a much better
plan.
Have a great rest of the day!
Chris
