not usually, you go into settings, bluetooth. Turn Bluetooth on. then turn 
on the keyboard. the phone will see your keyboard and send a pairing 
request, and if it needs it, the phone will send a four character code, 
which you have to enter on the phone it will say connected, and you're done.
