[Electronics-talk] [EXTERNAL] knfb reader app?

Well, point taken, but all Pam said was that she wishes the Nokia was
still being updated so she didn't have to move to an iPhone. This simple
little statement lead to someone saying she was stuck in the past and
someone else saying it was sad because her rejection of new technology
was making her more disabled. These statements and this jumping to
conclusions seems more dramatic than anything I said.

I'm all for answering questions and giving advice, but IMHO it sometimes
seems like a line is crossed and people start judging others and putting
others down because they made a different choice or don't need the same
solution someone else does. Not everyone needs a high end smart phone.
Some people just need a simple feature phone. That's just an example,
since we're obviously talking about more than a feature phone here since
we're talking OCR.

I see what you're saying about gradually moving from one technology to
the other, but I'm not sure how much this happens in real life. When I
moved from my Nokia phone running Symbian and Talks to an iPhone, it was
all or nothing. Once I bought the iPhone, I was committed to making it
work. I wasn't going to move my sim card back and forth between the two
devices. Doing it when I did four years ago wouldn't be any different
for me than it would be doing it now.

So, one can use it until the hardware dies or they find that the phone, talks, or the knfb reader can no longer do what they rely on it to do.
