[Electronics-talk] [EXTERNAL] knfb reader app?

Unfortunately, however, some of the technology is unaffordable and, even if we would like the newer stuff, we can't afford to purchase it.

Well, if she wants' to keep using it, as time goes on she may continue to
wish that it was able to take advantage of newer apps made for the blind and
as more time go by the learning curve will possibly continue to grow and the
fear of change will grow exponentially as well. This is just my Two pennies,
but I thought I would share because it is sad when us blind people don't go
forward with techknoledgy and grow more disabled in new ways because we
reject new tools that are available to make us more independent.

No you don't. if nokia works for someone you should use it. They can still
  get nokia phones.

Unfortunately Nokia is sinking about as quick as Black Berry was. It is kind
of like trying to hold onto the old industrial 20 pound Perkins brailler
instead of a Braille light, at some point you have to take a step forward
  out of the past.

I wish they had an update for the nokia for people who don't want an iPhone.

  Pam.

I am having better success reading stuff with the KNFB iPhone app than I was
  having with the old Nokia.

I have not gotten my phone to read a restaurant menu yet, and I've had it
since 2013. I have the n95 with the Kyrzweil. It reads some things fine,
but I haven't gotten it to read the restaurant menu. Pam.

I've used it several times to read a restaurant menu. I think it misses
some things, but I know a lot more than I would otherwise. Beats the heck
out of the "What do you have?" "What do you want?" circle.

It is meant for mobile use, i. e. reading handouts at conferences, scanning
  mail, etc.

Caan you try it out before buying?

It uses the iPhone and its camera to scan and read printed material out
loud. It is normally $99 but if you buy it before july 10 it is $74.95.

  Hi folks.

I accidentally blew away David Andrews' note on the reduced price for the
KNFB reader. Can somebody get me smart, what does this app do and how much
is it now? How long will the sale last?
