Nicole and group:

This is an issue of serious interest to many of us in the community. For
a number of years I have conducted research and authored papers on this
topic, both for the Braille Monitor and later for AFB Access World.

While it is my considered opinion and observation that the difficulties
are deepening, the concepts which I and others have outlined are still
purtenant.

If you google my name, Brad Hodges and appliance accessibility along
with Braille Monitor and/or Access World you should find the articles.

If they do not show up, please reach out to me directly and I can send
along the links.

Following a discussion at Convention this past July, I am working on an
update which will reflect the current state of accessibility.

I would like to encourage us to consider the alternative techniques for
using a smooth top cook surface from adjusting the controls. I do know
of many blind people who have a smooth electric cooking surface with
conventional turn knobs which they absolutely love using.

Best,

Brad Hodges
