[Electronics-Talk] Touch Screen Appliances and Glass top Stoves

Hi,
I have been using glass top electric stoves for several years now. The
first one was a Whirlpool and the knobs controlled the burners and the
touch screen for the oven, was very easy to use. I had assistance
putting raised dots on the bake, start, and the up and down arrows.
Even without the raised dots I could still feel the painted on
circles. The bake defaulted to 350, and then could raise and lower the
temp with the arrow buttons going up or down by five degrees, and then
press the start. If you forget what you did, just press cancel and
start again. After moving from that home to our current one, I went
out and looked at different models at our Local RC Willies store, and
am now using an even nicer one. The knobs work the burners, and the
touch pad works the oven and I have added just a few raised dots. To
use the burners, this current one has a slightly raised line around
each burner that I can feel, and after I place a pan on the burner and
turn it on, I can touch the area near the pan and can center it before
the burner gets too hot to touch. I am completely blind and have had
no issues with the flat stove burners. I actually prefer the flat top
to the burners where food crumbs can fall down underneath and then you
have to take them all apart in order to clean. The flat tops are easy
to clean.
I hope this helps. You can write me off list if you want to know more
