Yes, I sure remember those days.  And if I had the AM radio on, I could tell 
what channel they were watching by the frequency of the TVI on each station. 
I also could tell what frequency somebody had on the radio.  Pam.

You remember those days when you could hear the high-pitched squeal of a TV
screen when it was on?  I miss those days.

Too bad you don't have a smartphone.  The app, BeSpecular would work for
finding out if your TV is on or not.

Also, you can unplug the TV.  That would ensure you it is off, then.
