Yes; I heard of those boxes, but I never wound up getting one. Pam.

True enough. But it depends upon the jurisdiction what rules govern
recording of telephone conversations. Somewhere around here, I have a device
that RadioShack used to sell that one plugged the phone into and the device
then had the landline plugged into it. Worked quite well. I've also used
various telephone pickup coils over the years, plugging them into whatever
recorder I had at the time.

However, Apple wants to stay away from possible liability so iOS provides no
direct way to record iPhone telephone conversations so insofar as I can
tell, all iPhone telephone conversation recorders use an external server and
one is, in effect, using VOIP to do the actual telephoning.

Actually, you are correct. We had quite a scandal here in CA when a girl
associated with former L. A. Clippers owner Donald sterling recorded a
telephone conversation with him and uploaded it to the Internet. He
ended up socially disgraced, and had to give up ownership of the team.
She had her 15 minutes of fame, and was never charged with any offense.

You are incorrect. In many places, such as Texas for example, only one
party needs to give permission to record a conversation.

Thetoretically, telephone calls may be recorded if both parties give
prior consent. But how does one prove this?
