Justification is a personal thing.  If you want it, and can afford it, you 
buy it.  If you don't, and can't, and can use one of the other methods,

But there must be some major advantage or advantages or how does one justify
that high cost when one can make good labels almost free?

Mostly it does the same thing, but would be easier for some. It isn't either
or, it is a different way to produce labels.
