[Electronics-Talk] hd radio

The band with 9kHz steps was the "Medium Wave" band; there was a separate LW
band. Over here, the MW step is 10kHz.

Hello,

Radio Shack sold Yatt Boy radios by Grundig! This is a German Company!
That doesn't mean the radios were made in Germany! They often were set up
by European standards. Usually what they call the long wave band was set
to 9 KHZ tuning rather than 10 Khz steps. I unfortunately can't remember
how to change to 10 KHZ steps. I do know this is simple to change! I once
had that radio and once I changed to 10 khz tuning, the radio tuned
properly.

where band widths have narrowed so extensively on both AM and FM. A weird
thing with KYW Philadelphia all news AM station is it's announced as being
on 1060 but using the keypad gets me on the station but the frequency has to
be adjusted down one click on the shortwave dial to get the sound coming in
more clearly. I think on the RadioShack shortwave model I have each of
those clicks must increment or decrement frequency by 5 instead of 10 which
is probably why what I do works. So KYW may have the center of its
broadcast channel on 1055 rather than 1060. On Sat, 2 Jan 2016, Ashley

frequencies, so many times as I press the buttons, I hear static. It was
easier to turn stations with the wheels they had on older radios.

station I'm at. I can only tell now by waiting for the announcer to say the
station or guessing by the genre played or using my little vision to squint
at the screen.

complete accessibility, but I think some talking features is better than
none.
