Cullen and all:

I have been shopping for an alternative to Comcast, on account of their
escalating price and poor technical performance. In the week before
Convention I inquired of both Dish and Directv about the availability of
accessible set top boxes.

The Dish sales rep with whom I was talking immediately replied that they
have an accessibility module which they would provide without charge and
install with the rest of the equipment. She pleasantly offered to make a
note with my service address to ensure that the extra equipment would be
installed.

At Directv, three sales reps, including an individual who identified
themselves as a supervisor could never answer the question.I have no
way of knowing if they can provide accessibility.

After my Directv calls, I began to search for their regulatory
compliance group but was not able to identify a contact. If this is a
question which is of importance we might ask the National Office for
some assistance tracking down definitive information for both services.
