[Electronics-Talk] magicchef talking microwave oven defrost

hello,
I put stuff in the microwave. Push the start button. Let it go for a
while, then check. If it is going fast, I check more. If it is going slow,
I check less. I only use start and stop. Stuff always gets as warm or hot
as I want.
For instance ice cream only goes for 5 or 10 seconds to make it kind of soft
but not liquid. Refrigerated or frozen bread, also very short times
otherwise it gets tough.
Frozen meat, I put it in for a minute or so. Check it. Turn it over.
Start for another minute or so. I repeat these steps until the meat is to
my satisfaction.
So, paying several hundred dollars for a talking microwave which does the
same thing as a $75 or less machine makes no sense to me. I only mark 2
buttons, the start and clear. Our present microwave automatically resets to
a certain time when the clear is pushed, so all I need to do is hit start
and it goes full power. That is all I feel I need.
Now, I understand that there are others on this list who may be horrified by
my ham handed microwave use. I get that. I encourage you to get the most
of your time and kitchen equipment. I will not criticize any way to get
good food results. I am not making any kind of value judgement about the
use of talking microwaves. I love my talking devices, I just have not found
a talking microwave to be that helpful. This is especially true after one
of our children blew up our last talking microwave by melting wax in it. Oh
well, that's kids for you. It was a learning opportunity. With a little
more subtle use, I could probably get a little more satisfaction from it,
but it would not be much, since I am very satisfied with my machine.
Warmest Regards,
Fred

Has anyone gotten defrost to work on one of these ovens yet?
A person I'm living with needs to defrost a chicken and have it cooked
tonight since he's going to work for the next four days and he carries his
food with him to work.
