Hi Peter,

There are pressure cookers for use in the microwave. I had one at some
point, and used it mostly for cooking rice. I've considered getting another
one, but I'm also considering the InstaPot.

Subject: [Electronics-Talk] Pressure Cookers

Good afternoon everyone,

I came across some books on Bookshare.org concerning
pressure cookers. I know there are pressure cookers one can use on the stove
but am curious to know if there are any electrick ones and how usable they
are by the blind. I recall wen I was at Perkins in the 1970s that only
students with residual vision were taught to use pressure cookers. Yup this
is the nation's premier school for the blind caving into the higherarchy of
sight. Shame on them!

I found some books and videos about using a pressure cooker
from America's Test Kitchen and from none other than Jacque Peppin. Leave it
to the personal chef of French President Charles Degaul to observe that one
can tell how high the pressure is by listening to the intensity of the hiss
the unit makes a technique a blind cook can use to use pressure cookers
safely and with ease.

Pressure cookers have come along ways since I was in school
and there are other tips and tricks blind persons have figured out to use
them independently. Sindce the focus here is electronics any feedback about
electric pressure cookers and how they can be used by the blind will be very
much appreciated. All the best.
