[Electronics-Talk] JFW question

This is very strange because I don't know how JAWS could read the inside of
a message with the Preview Pane turned off even if you wanted it to do that.
I am also using JAWS 18 and the December update and am not having that
problem, but of course there could be many differences in our JAWS settings,
Outlook settings, and even computer systems, but it might be worth having
someone make sure visually that the preview pane is off. I have been
frustrated occasionally with Outlook settings seeming to change, but from
your explanation, it sounds like something else is going on. GUI-Talk might
be worth a try, but this might be a problem either for VFO Support or
possibly the Microsoft Accessibility Help Line.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobsom

These sorts of things are tricky. It does sound like the reading pane is
on, but installing a new version of JAWS should not have turned that on. It
is an Outlook thing. If you have tried INSERT-V already, you have already
seen that there are a huge number of options there, and one of them may stop
the automatic reading of the preview pane, but I don't know which one. You
can turn off the reading pane on the "View" tab of the ribbon, but exactly
where it is depends some upon the version of Outlook you are using. Turning
it off is a good idea even if you get the preview pane to stop speaking from
inside the INSERT-V menu because it avoids bringing up a view of the message
each time a message is selected in the message list, and may make moving
through the list a little more responsive. If you don't find it, I can
figure out where it is in Outlook 2016 or Outlook 2013, but that could be
different than Outlook 2010 and is certainly different than Outlook 2007.

It is likely that many people on this list have some answers on this, but
you might have better luck with computer-related questions on GUI-Talk which
is more centered on these kinds of questions.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

Hi folks. I posted this yesterday but didn't see any kind of response. I
installed JFW 18 and now it likes to read incoming Outlook emails, and I'd
love to turn that feature off. I remember this issue with JFW 17.0 but don't
know how I fixed it, I think it had something to do with turning off the
reading pane?
If anybody knows how to fix this, please let me know or redirect me to
another list that can better answer?
