There are paper-type ones sold by this place in California that cost a lot
less and that are biodegradable. Pam.

descale. Also, if the water comes out more slowly, it is time to descale.
I agree about the waste it causes. A friend of mine takes the used K-cups
apart and uses the grounds for fertilizer.

Hi,
Thanks for the tips on de-scaling. I got my Keurig as a Christmas gift back
in 2011 or 2012 and it still makes a great cup of coffee. I have one of
those Brita water filters, have always used filtered water and have never
de-scaled the unit. So aside from any visual indicators, how would one know
if de-scaling is necessary? Does the unit eventually stop working or would
it just give you a lousy-tasting cup of coffee? Also, as a side
note/question, with so many people using k-cups, are any k-cup manufacturers
making biodegradable k-cups? Who knows how many millions upon millions of
k-cups eventually make their way into landfills.
