[Electronics-Talk] Onyx+

Hi, Tracy, it's got an adapter and it needs to be plugged in. you wouldn't
loose the settings, if the power went out. You could get the radio for about
$60. The radio you want is the one that has the home kit with it. The radio
slides down into the home kit and that's where all the audio jack, antena
jac, and power input jack is. The size of the actual radio is the size of
the iphone se, the iphone se just might be a quarter inch longer, and the
radio is just a little thicker than the phone. If the back of the kit is
facing you, on the left is the audio jack and the power jack is on the
right. and no matter how it's facing the antena will be in the middle. It
comes with a nice long cable on the antena, at least about 20 feet. They say
it's best to have the antena facing the south, and since it's small they
recomend to put it on a window sill if you can. If that's not possible, such
as in our case, we do have that south wall without a window. We didn't want
to put it on the floor. They say you could mount it outside, outdoors, but
in our case we didn't want to do that, and if you live in an apartment
mounting it outdoors may be out of the question. So we have a closet with
the south wall, so we put the antena on the top shelf, above where you hang
up clothes, against the south wall, got it positioned correctly and haven't
had any troubles with it, no signal difficulties, and no dropouts. Tip, once
the antena is correctly positioned and getting good reception, you could buy
a roll of mounting tape, of which we buy it from walmart for about $4.28
made by scotch brand, comes on a card and has a green looking backing. One
roll would be way more than enough to mount and tape it in place. We have
all of our electronic equipment on ups, that is uninterupted power supply.
You could get them for all prices. If you were able to go to sams in your
area, they sell a unit for about$60. It would probably run the radio for
many days. Another thing that's nice about the power supply, it has a usb
charging port, so you could keep your phone plugged in. If the power goes
out, you could charge most phones for 7 times, if you're not using it for
anything else. The home kit itself doesn't have a power button, that is on
the remote and radio. Hopefully all of this doesn't sound too complicated
and confusing to you, we'll continue to help you out as much as possible.
