[Electronics-Talk] Electronics-Talk] Amazon fire sticks

Hi Mike,

That's really useful to know. We have an older t.v. it's HDTV, but has no smart features. The picture quality is fine, but we've been considering how we want to upgrade.

So, I'm wondering, is the fire tv the same thing as using the firestick? In terms of the smart technology part of it? It's especially good to know about the voice thing happening twice a week, that would annoy us, so the firestick may be the better option, I'm just trying to figure out if there's a difference in the functionality of the two options, or if it really works the same, and you're just paying for the actual t.v. - which would be a better picture, but we are happy with what we currently have.

Ben,

----

I bought the 24 inch Insignia fire tv with Alexa built in. The problem was
about 2 times a week in the middle of the night it would say voice view
ready! This was with the tv shut off! This is a soft wear problem. No one
could figure out how to stop this. My tv was in the bedroom & I was not
going to be woke up by the tv 2 times a week. The ecko show does the same
thing, but you can tell it to go home & that stopes the behavior for the
most part but not 100%. I sent it back & got the fire stick with Alexa
remote & really like it.

Thank you. We are trying to decide, and you may know, if the firestick will
work with our tv, we got it in 2012. We are trying to decide if we want a
firestick or spring for the tv with the firestick built in, husband isn't
sure he wants involuntary adds.
Are you sure there isn't a youtube app for the firestick? Sounds like an odd
oversight.

The Fire Stick is very accessible, in my experience. We have used our with
Sling TV, CBS All Access, PBS, Amazon Prime, and probably a couple other
apps as well. I just which there was a youtube TV app for the Fire Stick.
