[Electronics-Talk] Fire TV, Apple TV, etc

I don't really understand about the Fire TV or the Apple TV, which are
related in my mind as the same kind of thing.

Do they look like regular TV's, or are they little things?  

Do they get the same channels as a regular TV, or are they only for stuff on
the internet?  

Now, a friend of mine has "cut the cord" and bounces around from one
internet TV streaming site to the next, but it seems a bit complicated to
me.  He's retired, and has more time and energy to putz around than I do.
But maybe it's simpler than I think.
