[Electronics-Talk] Stand-alone OCR

My husband can no longer see well enough to use his magnifier to read the
things the he wants to or needs to.  I thought I'd research stand-alone OCR
for him.

He's not a gadget guy, so it would have to be simple and easy to use.

It should have an ability to switch between regular mode and columns mode,
so he could look at bills or tables in books.

He has no interest in learning to use a smart phone.

 

I googled, but got a lot of out-of-date data, so I'd be interested in
recommendations.
