[Electronics-Talk] Color Indicators?

I really like the Rainbow color identifier. I got it from the Lighthouse for the Blind in San Francisco. It was around $99.

I read something explaining the difference between stand-alone color identifiers and apps. The camera on a phone is out in the open. It can get interference from nearby things, and be affected by ambient light. The stand-alone identifiers have a recessed camera. One pushes the device right onto the color, and the edges around the recess block out interference, so the camera gets a really good look at the color.

My Rainbow is good for identifying colors in small bits, but, if I really want to know about a whole thing, like the print on a dress, I call Aira for a description. "It has a white background, with small yellow flowers with brown stems." No app yet to do anything that complicated.
