To add in with my two cents which is adjusted for inflation might make this worth about $.75. It’s horrible and I’ve been through a similar situation in California. I’m doing this from memory but I found it interesting that many states are not required to have air-conditioning but they’re required to have heat. Well you would think and hot states the air conditioning is more important so I don’t know about your state. Simply put, the air-conditioning has to be maintained and on a plan with competent qualified professionals because like anything else than it’s overloading when you’re pressed with the heat and then the peoples phone is ringing off the hook. When I finally did and one of the best decisions in life was to go to Costco and I assume they’re probably sold out is a big rolling floor unit with a plastic hose and yes it’s ugly that hangs out the window. I don’t care because it is absolutely perfect great and life-saving. I probably have somebody educate and show me a little bit and now it’s a simple as I push the one button in the top middle of the remote control and I turned your room into an icicle in 10 minutes. Even though they finally completely overhauled my unit and have the best of brand new, the one I bought from Costco for $400 is my go to every night for the last several years. I’m sure there’s a shortage in the country of units for many reasons but if you want I can look it up. In addition this unit does heat and several other things that I don’t need. Hope that helps Tom
