It sounds like you have a legal matter on your hands.
I'm sure, like in Arizona, Texas too has Renters Rights Law advocates. You
ought to seriously check into it.
My oldest daughter's first apartment had a slum landlord, and he too was
uncaring when it came to cool air in the summer.
Her place got so hot, brand new candles melted when they were sitting on the
shelf!
She was able to get out of her lease due to unlivable conditions.
Ironically, the jerk tried to sue her for the remaining 8 months on the
lease one month after she vacated the premises. But of course, he had no
leg to stand on, and after he was told he'd be hit with a harassment suit,
she never heard from the jerk again.
So, if you were me, you'd contact the renters advocate in your city or
state.
However, I must inform you. Most lawmakers are owners of rental property.
So, some laws lean more toward the landlord. But in your situation, like my
daughter, you are dealing with a health issue.
Beware. Your manager is going to do everything in his power not to spend
more than he wants to fix your air.

Subject: [Electronics-Talk] Air Conditioning Melt Down,Need Suggestions
Good morning everyone,
We've been handed this one thanks to our apartment
management company failing to maintain unit air conditioning properly. Our
central air conditioning has gotten to the point that it hardly throws cold
air. We've been roasting and sweating for a good part of July and during the
first part of August. These people have a terrible reputation for
maintaining these units. They said they would install a window air condition
unit so it will be cooler upstairs. God only knows when that will happen.
We're not waiting around. We've been looking online and discovered that even
window air conditioners have gotten smarter. We found GE, and Amana units
that include remote controls, apps, Internet connectivity, and integration
with Amazon Alexa, Apple Home Kit and Google Assistant. We also found units
that are air conditioner/heatercombinations. A unit like that would be ideal
for downstairs as heat from our central unit fails to warm the downstairs
portion of our townhome.
We're curious to know if any of you have used air
conditioning units that include apps, Internet connectivity, and voice
assistants and which work best from an accessibility perspective?
We also learned that our apartment is not the only unit with
air conditioning trouble. These people would save us aggravation, time, and
money by having their heating and air conditioning units serviced regularly
to prevent melt-downs of this kind and so we can avoid making the power
company rich just to keep cool! Here's hoping they'll bring us a window unit
or two to help us keep our cool while they have the central heating and air
conditioning serviced properly. That's the hope. Otherwise we'll take
matters into our own hands and buy some window units to insure we'll be able
to stay warm in the winter and cool during the summer. At least if units we
own need servicing we'll have control over the process and will be able to
have repairs done and to know they'll be done professionally and properly.
Finally a word to the wise. Shippy Properties manages this
complex and others throughout Texas. Do yourselves a favor and don't move
into a Shippy Property to avoid going through what we're dealing with right
now. These repair issues have gone on for quite a few years long before the
pandemic started. All the best for a wonderful weekend.
