I'd say that I agree.

First off, Smart Things has been around for a few years.  It is an app which supports a bridge  type of device which can communicate with other smart tech such as smart speakers.  Smart Things also is an app used to control other appliances and tech.

Therefore, I doubt that Smart Things is going away, it may be updated to accommodate more appliances but I'd say it's likely to remain viable for awhile.

LG, IMHO is a great appliance vendor.  I would look through the various models of Washer and Dryer or in this instance, dryers.  I have found that LG generally does produce a model with more accessible controls along with their other appliances which have touch type screens.

Home Depot and Lows and Best Buy are large big box stores and it would certainly be worth one's while, when shopping for appliances to visit these stores and in a friendly manner, ask simple questions such as do you have appliances with push buttons and knobs.  I walked into a Best Buy store one time when I needed a toaster oven.  I asked a similar question and I was amazed because this sales person went to a sort of cupboard and pulls out this large toaster oven and it was exactly what I was looking for.  So sometimes what you are seeking may not be on display  but they can search their own catalogs and sources and likely find what you're looking for.

Otherwise, I do like the thought of eventually having all appliances in my home whereby I can more accurately set an appliance to operate according to more specific information via an app so it, conceptually is not as direct in terms of being able to push a button or turn a dial or slide a switch butit's doable.

Although this is most likely true, there are two other things to keep in mind. First is that these apps generally support multiple lines of products, so it may be around longer then you would think if it were only supporting one particular washer. Second is that just because the app isn't getting any more support doesn't mean it won't continue to work.

The only thing about having your washer and dryer app controlled. The company is going to stop supporting the app before the washer and dryer is no good. Just a thought they keep in mind.

There was something on youtube about a blind woman who got some lg outfit that was unusable and she got them to make the app so that she could control the machine with it, but also the app on the phone was speaking when she used controls on the machine itself so she'd know what she was doing. It had a braille overlay they shipped her. Anyone know where to find that video?
