[Electronics-Talk] An Introduction and Question

I use Consumer Cellular and they offer two different Flip phones. One has a button that one can program with a phone number to use if one needs help from a family member, friend or otherwise. It has quite a bit of accessibility. The other phone has access to Android's talkback Screen reader. All apps don't seem to be accessible on this model but one can read text messages, phone log and other items.

Would anybody have any good suggestions on a good flip phone for the blind. I’ve tried to give my mother my old iPhones and she just can’t understand how to use it. No matter how hard I try to just tell her let’s start with the basics on just say using Siri and just make a phone call but she just doesn’t wanna touch it

Jen:

It depends if you want a simple flip phone, or a smart phone.I am sure there will be a debate among members about the advantages and disadvantages of each, but, in this day and age, I think a smart phone would be a good choice.

As for me, I think the iPhone has the best in accessibility, but that will probably be debated also.Hahahaha.

There will be more of a learning curve for a smart phone, but worth the challenge.Do you have access to any Apple stores? They have classes for blind users, at least, they do where I live.
