My toaster has a bagel setting, a stop, and a keep warm button, along with 
the knob that turns further to the right the darker you want your toast.

I just memorized the three buttons, which are in a straight line vertically, 
and the knob is set just to the right of center, which is just right for me.

I can always smell the toast, so know if it is starting to burn.
