Hmm, I doubt this is a money thing. All cards from 32GB to 2TB use the same technology. If a device supports 32GB cards, it should support any card up to 2TB. I could be wrong, but I've always assumed the documented size of the cards supported for a device come down to what the manufacturer can test with. If 2TB cards don't exist yet then they can't test with a card that large. Although any size card in the 32GB to 2TB range should work, there's always a chance that there's some code in the device driver or firmware or operating system or application that will break when it reaches a certain limit, which is why I assume a device manufacturer is only going to officially support what it can actually test with.

Hi.

Many devices will say that they support up to such and such a size sd card, but they actually work with larger ones. I can't think of a specific device that doesn't work with how  ever large a card you can come up with. I guess you could say the company supports only such and such a size but any size should work in theory. The reason this happens so often is that it costs more money to license support for larger cards for your device, but the hardware that goes into the device's sd slot can handle it just fine, so it's mostly a money thing.

I admit this isn't a real answer to your question, someone else cleared it up nicely. I just wanted to point this out in case yourself or someone else encounters such a situation where their card is higher capacity than their device says it supports. Odds are decent that it will just work.
