[Electronics-Talk] DVD player for Windows

People here recommended VLC Media Player as a way to play DVDs on my Windows
PC.  I got it, but I'm having trouble with it.  I was hoping I could put in
a DVD of a movie or TV series and watch it on my PC, but it's very difficult
to get out of the menu bit that starts most DVDs and pick a show to watch or
start a movie.  

I get into the menu of the software and try checking or clicking various
things, but I stay stuck in the menu "episode".  Once, after about half an
hour of trying things, I got into a movie, but it was dumb luck and I wasn't
able to do it again. 

Can anyone advise me on using this program?  I am running Jaws and Windows
10.
