Yes Ma'm, plug the splitter into the place where the original phone cord was
in the modem and note there is only one connection point where the phone or
similar device will function properly.
Next, if you are using a phone in the same room as where the modem is, then
plug the cord to that phone into one of the connection points of the
splitter and then use a separate cord and plug one end into the splitter
and the other into the nearest phone wall jack.
If you don't intend to use a corded or wireless phone base which acts as a
corded phone in the same area, then, you'd merely use a length of phone cord
between the wall jack and the designated port in the modem.
