[Electronics-Talk] Thoughts on smart washing machines

Hi to you all,

I hope everybody is doing well. My partner and I are having to upgrade our
laundry and we are in the process of selecting a dryer and washer. I’ve
been doing lots of research and here in Australia, the best brands are LG,
and Bosch for the non-luxury brands and Miele and Speed Queen for the
higher and manufacturers. We are only looking at front loaders due to our
laundry design.

I would like to get a machine that has smart functionality (app controlled)
since that allows me to use more of its features and integrated with our
Smarthouse ecosystem. We have experience with the Miele app due to our
dishwasher, but I would like to learn more about the LG ecosystem and Bosch
if anybody has any thoughts on it. Primarily:
1. Are you able to turn the appliance on and off from the app?
2. Does the appliance need to be in a specific mode like: “Mobile start”
for it to be able to be controlled by the app?
3. Is the app accessible on iOS and hopefully android as well?

If anybody has any thoughts and experiences they are willing to share
regarding the aforementioned ecosystems, or others I have not considered,
that is very much appreciated. By the way, I am aware that speed queen does
not offer any connected features and it’s efficiency and their energy
rating is not as good as the other manufacturers, but it is in the mix due
to its reliability.
