No I never take any readings of any kind of the water. I just use my nose. I want just a hint of chlorine not to strong when I open the lid.

Hi, this is a pretty cool rule of thumb. Do you use anything to take readings of the water level? I don’t mean level. I meant PH? I’m wondering if there’s some kind of Bluetooth device that works with hopefully an accessible app that will let me know the temp and the pH level. I’m not sure if there’s any other things you’re supposed to take readings on. But this is pretty cool advice.

I also have a chlorine floater that I keep full of chlorine tablets. I adjust the floater set to dispense the smallest amount it can. But now because I only use it maybe 2 times a month I drop a small hand full of chlorine every other week. I change the tub water 1 time a year. But I rarely have anyone in the tub with sun tan lotion. This is not a salt water tub!

I shared the story because it seemed rather easy to dump some chemicals in and of course the moving parts and heater is the cost. The cost of repairs seem so exorbitant, did it seem like it was as easy or cost-effective to trade in.

That’s why I came here, because I wanted some insight from other blind people. But thank you anyway! And just to be clear, I already have the hot tub.

They have all types and sizes, so I guess it’s big business. I’m sure in your area they would have a local company, that would love to take your money in order to maintain it. I would guess, that they wouldn’t be too interested in putting themselves out of business and showing you what to do. Yet you could certainly learn. If you went to or talk to the participants at the home show conventions or conferences, I’m confident that the friendly sales people can get you pointed in the proper direction as they would want to take yours and upgrade it. OOh yeah, afterthought.. I remember YYears ago when a friend put a camera near the hot tub for the sole purpose to see what the pool maintenance guy was doing. He came in onhe came in on time, on schedule and dumped chemicals in there without ever measuring anything. He seemed to be very excellent at sitting on the side of the tub and talking to his girlfriend. This all started, from a huge bill that was given for whatever removing parts of a pump or heater. Maybe the price was so high, It’s, It seem like may be getting a new pool guy or a new unit would work. Tom

I am totally blind, and I’m wondering if there’s anything I should know about running a hot tub as a blind person or any devices I should get to help measure or get readings. Any recommendations or suggestions would be welcomed.
