YOU ARE A LETTER FROM CHRIST

"You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry,
written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets
of stone but on tablets of human hearts." 2 Corinthians 3:3

Have you ever thought that "You" are a letter to the world from Christ? The
Ten Commandments was God's Law to man written on tables of stone, but God
has inscribed on the tables of the heart of all who have been redeemed, the
glorious message of reconciliation.

The transformation brought by the Holy Spirit, is that you have "turned from
darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God"
(Acts 26:18). You have become a "new creation." Your views, desires, and
pursuits are all new. The bent of your life, once focused upon the things of
time and sense, is now directed to eternal values.
Christ is the "priority" of your life. When He is in control, you proclaim
this work of grace in your life to all, that "He is the way, the truth, and
the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me."
And "There is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be
saved." Nor is there any other foundation whereon any man can build his
hopes.

You are a letter from Christ to the truth of the gospel. In no other
religion will there be found a work like that on the day of Pentecost. Will
the word preached by other faiths be quick, and powerful, and sharper than a
two-edged sword? Will "the weapons" used by them be found mighty to pull
down the strongholds of sin and Satan, and to bring men's thoughts into
captivity to the obedience of Christ? No. It is the gospel only that will
ever prove to be the power of God to the salvation of the soul. It is
through "you" that the gospel is displayed realistically to a doubting,
unbelieving world.

The efficacy of the gospel changes the whole soul, from sin and sorrow, from
being without hope and without God to holiness and joy, and an intimate
personal relationship with Christ. He gives you the resources of His grace
as the source of your strength. For the troubled mind and heart, He gives a
"peace that passes understanding," "a joy that is unspeakable and full of
glory," the assurance of His presence, and the hope of eternal life. So
complete is this work of grace that it brings the Lord Jesus Christ and the
believer into such a close union with each other, that they are one body
(Ephesians 5:20), and one spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17), partakers of the same
blessings in this world (John 17:13, 22, 23, 26), and heirs of the same
glory in the world to come (Romans 8:17).

So what is the challenge to us who are a "letter from Christ" to a careless
and ungodly world? Paul prayed "that you may live a life worthy of the Lord
and may please Him in every way, bearing fruit in every good work, growing
in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His
glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and
joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share the
inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light" (Colossians 1:10-12).
Wow, what a prayer and challenge by Paul for every believer!

As a letter "to" the world "from" Christ, let your light so shine before
men, that all who behold it may glorify your Father who is in heaven.
