[Faith-talk] just venting about something here

Hi Andrew,

Yes, this is perplexing, no doubt.  But keep this in mind.  Even though the 
church is filled with people of faith and followers of Christ, they are 
still human beings with flaws, just like you and me.

The struggle in church, just like any place else, is to educate and to 
remain persistent in showing that you want to make a difference in the 
church.

It's just like a house where you build brick by brick, mortar upon mortar, 
etc.

I know, in my case, when I feel discriminated against, I want to run and 
hide.  But, God has a higher purpose for me and I continue to be positive 
and friendly and use what opportunity God affords me to have, to show my 
talents.

Also, it might even help you to look outside the four walls of the church. 
Let me explain.

Maybe there might not be a place for you to take an active role in the 
congregation, such as teaching or playing the piano or being a deacon.

However, maybe you can find ways to further God's kingdom by being active in 
community events while, at the same time, still being encouraged and blessed 
by the church you attend.

A lot of blind people I know will complain to the high heavens about not 
being accepted in church.  Knowing some of us, I understand exactly why they 
are not accepted and, if I weren't friends with them, I wouldn't either.

Everyone, especially us, when having a desire to play an active part in a 
congregation should ask: "This thing that I want to do, is it realistic?  Am 
I really cut out to participate in children's ministry or am I just trying 
to prove a point?"

Finally, there is no such thing as not being active in church.  You can 
always listen to people who express needs and you can let them know that you 
are concerned and that you have them in prayer on an ongoing basis until 
that need is met.  After awhile, you'll have the reputation of being a 
prayer warrior that people can count on.

I know that this was kind of long, and to the moderators, I apologize.  I 
hope, however, that what I've said here is taken to be an encouraging 
message and gives food for thought.
