Okay, I have seen a lot of discussion on this list during the past couple
of days that has really disappointed me. I think we need to step back and
resisit what this list is and the purpose of it. In my opinion, God loves
all no matter what religion you are. There will be no religion in heaven.
Religion here on earth is human's interpretation of what God has presented
to them. Christians get so caught up with who is going to Heaven and who
isn't that I believe they forgot to focus on their own issues. Clean up
your own house before you clean up someone else's. Many of you have a long
way to go on that. Many, many judgmental things have been said over the
past few days and It's so sad.
I though the purpose of this list was for blind people and those who are
interested in blindness issues can come together and talk about how she/he
as a blind person gets along in their faith. How does my faith treat my
blindness. How does it help me cope with my blindness. How do people
within my faith accept me or how can I use my faith to help people
understand my disability in a religous or faith context. How can I as a
blind person be more involved in my church and can this list inspire me to
do that. People who are Muslim, Jew, Catholic, Protestant, Hindu Sikh,
whatever you are should be allowed and welcomed on this list and their faith
preferences should be accepted for what they are. I do not believe the
purpose of this list is to argue about who is right or wrong about religion
and do we worship the same God. We all have a faith and we as blind people
are here to try to make it work in our lives. We need to be open minded.
Muslims and Hindus can teach some things too.
Christians are also killers for the sake of religion, even today. They are
some of the most violent people in history. Look what they did to the
Native Americans when they came to this country. They practically killed
off a virtuous, peaceful people.
Please, let's welcome all to this list and stop arguing about religious
beliefs and trying to convert people. Or, go make another list that had the
title blind Christian talk.
Thank you,
Charlotte
