i am a former homeschooler, one of the subjects very close to the hearts of
many homeschoolers is teaching our young children to be modest, modest by
the way is relative to the culture you live in. what is modesty to one
culture is not to another, it is all about understanding what God calls
folks to do rather than a set of laws set up by one group of folks to rule
over us. we each have to make the decisions of what we feel is appropriate
for our family because it is between us and God, to sit in judgement over
folks because they wear sleeveless shirts versus shirts with sleeves or
because their shorts are too short and not to their knees is legalism,
ridiculousness that Paul also talks about, we are to focus our minds on the
things of God, not on the things that cause quarrels in the body, we each
answer to god for our actions as well as all aspects of our lives, this
argument and your continued attempt to force your beliefs on us is one of
the ways i believe satan causes trouble in the body.
we are to love one another, yes even those of us who wear make up and cut
our hair or wear pants or even those who have a drink from time to time are
christians and we love the Lord as much of those who believe that because
they follow a certain set of rules they are holier than the rest. i really
feel like this subject needs to be put to rest.
you are for sure entitled to your beliefs and your way of life, i admire
you for trying to live up to standards you think god has called you to, but
i also believe that i too attempt through the guidance of the Holy Spirit
to live a holy life and i stumble from time to time, this is sin and i ask
forgiveness from my Lord and Savior and He forgives me and i grow closer to
Him. jeanette
