[Faith-talk] "Worship services, (A need for Balance!")

I haven't been to our church service in forever because one of us has to
stay in our kids' room to help but our church "took care" of that problem by
having two services. Supposedly they sing hymns and the old choruses at the
tradition service and all that new stuff at ther river--or
contemporary--service.
Now, the catch is, when I was able to go, the hymns weren't sung in the
tradition way. What's with no one ever wanting to do things the old way?
Does everything really Have to change?
I agree with you, Joshua, on those 7 11 songs. However. They are just
milk, most of them, but a fesw of them are fun to sing. I prefer songs that
run in the hymn style of verse chorus verse chorus but not second verse same
as the first. Milk is great for young believers, but meat is the something
to chew on that we all need.

Hi, it's Joshua Lester.
Last night, I attended a youth "Back to School ralley."
My pastor preached for it, but the worship was something that I didn't like.
I felt out of place, because all of the songs were contemporary.
I know the older contemporary worship songs, but they sang the newer
songs, that came out, after I left the Assemblies of God.
I only recognized the last song, that was sung during the altar service.
I only know the older hymns.
I think it would be better, if we had a balance, between traditional,
and contemporary.
Our church has a balance.
We sing Southern Gospel hymns, traditional African American Gospel
music, and CCM.
I also sing my original songs, which is a blend of all 3 styles,
accompanied with occasional Bluegrass.
I also like the Hebraic worship.
Some of those songs are, "When the Spirit of the Lord, comes upon my
heart, I'll dance, like David danced," "Havenu Shalom Allechim,"
"Sound the alarm," etc.
I don't sing those much, at my Apostolic church, but we sang them in the AG.
How are your services?
The only way, that you can keep from offending people, in the worship
services, is to incorperate what everyone wants to hear.
Blessings, Joshua
