[Faith-talk] Speaking in Tongues

Well for one I appreciate all the comments and the discussion. I do believe
that debate has its purposes. For instance, Paul debated with Agrippa and in
Acts 26:28, I think it is, Agrippa tells Paul that he has almost convinced
him that Christianity is real. I think, however, that we need to be mindful
of Proverbs 26:4-5 which tells us how to handle debate. We should not debate
simply for the purpose of trying to exercise our beliefs over another. The
scriptures tell us to answer a fool according to his folly lest he become
wise in his own conceit and the scripture also tells us not to answer a fool
according to his folly lest we become just like him.

I'm not calling anyone a fool.

It is clear that we are going to differ on opinions. Does this make one
right and the other wrong? No, I don't believe so.

What I do believe though is that if we present a united front, we will win
more people to Christ than we will if we operate in dissention and division.

Is my salvation based on whether I believe in the trinity or not? Absolutely
not. Is my salvation guaranteed on the basis of whether I believe in
speaking in tongues or not? Absolutely not.

Is my salvation based on my belief in Christ Jesus and His atonement for my
sins. You better believe it.

We say that we don't support a principle if it is not clearly spelled out in
the Bible. The world glosalalia is not written in the word. It is derived
from two words and was first used by Frederick William Farar in 1879. Does
this mean that speaking in tongues has no merit? I don't believe this is the
case.

I will ask one question here.

We read that speaking in tongues is evidence of being filled with the Holy
Spirit. Evidence to whom? Does God need evidence that we are filled with the
Holy Spirit? I think God already knows that. So, who is the evidence for? If
we are not to be respecter of persons then who is the evidence for?

I believe that speaking in tongues is a gift. I also believe that there is a
difference between speaking in tongues and speaking in an unknown language.
Do I believe that a person who does not speak in tongues is not filled with
the Holy Spirit? No, I don't believe that. I believe that some may not have
the gift of tongues and are filled with the Holy Spirit. Could I be wrong?
Possibly. Could I be right? Possibly. Will I know the answer to these
questions when I see through a glass clearly. Yep.

Peace and blessings!

Thank you Nikki.
I hope what I've said, doesn't come across, the way Ms Mentink, says it
does.
That's not the spirit I want to display.
I just believe, that if Kirt has the right to put his T I video, on
the list, this message should be allowed, as well.
I love everyone, on this list.
May God bless everyone of you, and remember, you can't lose for
winning, when God is on your side.
Blessings, Joshua
