Christian And Medical Counseling / Treatment

Quite simply, biblical counseling is to admonish, encourage, and
strengthen Christians through life's trials. Some pastors and other
Christians are qualified to offer marital counseling and others are not. We
do God a disservice and harm others when we "try our best" to give advice
when we don't have a clue about the many reasons for marital discord. Some
problems are sin related, but by no means are all.

I Do Believe There Is A Need For Psychiatrist And Psychologist To Analyze
And Treat Mental Illness. The vast majority of ministers are not trained
and qualified to do so. An example was the brain tumor I suffered from for
20 years and totally destroyed my life as it was before. I was helped my
some Christian counseling to live through all of it, but it required
drastic surgery to remove it and medical care to deal with the consequences
of the damage caused by the tumor and the radical procedure required to do
so.

I have a chemical imbalance that has required me to take an
anti-depressant for years and I probably will need to take it all of my
life.

I suffered horribly from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and no amount of
reading the Bible or well intended advice could help me. A psychiatrist
tested me and verified the PTSD. and placed me on medication that helped my
though it. I still have flare ups of it.

PTSD. Is not a spiritual problem; it is a health problem.

God knew we would need Biblical counseling, and help from those who have
been trained to help and treat psychology health issues.
