Oh come on.  Sure, plenty of contemporary christian music lacks the richness 
of meaning of the old hymns, but there are plenty contemporary worship songs 
that tell the story of the gospel and the greatness of God.  No one genre 
has a monopoly on being the theologically correct worship style.  Each 
song/artist should be judged based on its content. Weren't our beloved hymns 
considered "contemporary" at the time they were written?  The church has a 
wonderful and rich history of worship practices, but it also has a history 
of people worshipping God creatively.  Why not encourage people to worship 
God in the way most meaningful to them?  Didn't Martin Luther feel 
comfortable turning bar songs into great hymns of the church?  Why not allow 
Christian artists to reclaim all musical genres for God's glory?

I think music style is absolutely a preference.  God tells us to worship in 
the Bible, but he doesn't tell us exactly how.  Unless of course your church 
worships with the harp, lyre, flute, and cymbals.

I believe this is a preference thing.  Its ok to not enjoy certain genres of 
Christian music, but bemoaning contemporary christian music as a demonic 
force that is destroying the church is foolish.  Its good to critically 
analyze the music you use for worship, but condemning a genre because they 
use electric guitars or loud drums does not seem biblical to me.
