      November 18 - REJOICE WHEN YOU'RE TEMPTED

The Bible says you should be happy when you are tempted. Why?
Because temptations give you a chance to prove your love for God.
Temptations also produce patience and true godliness.
I heard of a young preacher who once came to an older man of God
and said, "Sir, I find that I'm very impatient with my flock. Would you
pray with me that God would give me patience to deal with these people?"
The old man agreed, and both fell to their knees. The elder prayed, "Oh,
Lord, bring this man trials! Bring him tribulations! Bring him problems!"
The young man opened one eye and said," Sir, I don't think you understood
me--I need patience!" The old man said, "Son, I need pray no more.
"Tribulation worketh patience" (Rom. 5:3). There's no other way!"
A strong person develops muscles by lifting weights. A
mathematician develops his mind by struggling with equations. Christians
become strong through resisting temptations. The more you are tested, the
stronger you become. So be happy when you are tempted--you are going to
become a better person as a result!
The temptations you face today will give you a tremendous
opportunity to grow. God is asking you to draw closer to Him. You can't
withstand temptation in your own strength. Draw near to God. Use His
strength as your own.
                   &nbs p;
"My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers
temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
but let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing" (James 1:2-4).

Remember: TEMPTATION IS NOT A SIN--BUT YIELDING TO IT IS. REJOICE WHEN
YOU'RE TEMPED BECAUSE IT GIVES YOU A CHANCE TO RESIST, AND IN RESISTING YOU
BECOME A STRONGER CHRISTIAN!
