Hello and good evening to those of us in North America, good morning to those of you in the UK or Europe, and good day mates to those of you in Australia and New Zealand. I hope that our day in North America went well and that your day in other parts of the world is going well. As for me, I'm still a bit overwhelmed by the fact that it looks like the Lord is leading me to do more pioneering work due to the fact that, if approved by the Commission on Aging for Baltimore City, that the undersigned will be the voice of a telephone messaging service informing seniors in our municipality of activities at the four senior citizens centers scattered around the city. Just pray that I can fulfill His mandate with His guidance and wisdom.

The author of this evening's poetic verses is unknown to the undersigned, but they are still a good read/listen. Entitled "A Tale of Two Books," it is rendered as follows:

On the table side by side
Is the Holy Bible and the TV Guide.
One is well worn but cherished with pride,
Not the Bible, the TV Guide.
One is used daily to help folks decide,
No it isn't the Bible, it's the TV Guide.

As the pages are turned what should they see,
Thought "what does it matter, turn on the TV."
So they open the book on which they rely,
Not the Bible, it's the TV Guide.
The word of God is seldom read,
Maybe a verse 'ere they fall into bed,
Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be,
Not from reading the Bible but from watching TV.

So back to the table side by side
Is the Holy Bible and the TV Guide.
No time for prayer, no time for the Word,
The plan of salvation is seldom heard.
Forgiveness of sins so full and free
Is found in the Bible and not on TV!

Something to think about, right? And now let's right now tune in to our favorite sitcoms like Dukes of Hazard, Hogan's Heroes, Green Acres, Melrose Place, Gilligan's Island, The Waltons etc. You get the picture. Michelle upstairs has a Dish Network subscription, but I personally (and this is my opinion only) wouldn't care if TV went the way of the dinosaur, at least the way it portrays daily life in a great many instances.

And now may the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob just keep us safe, individually and collectively, throughout this night or day and especially in the last days in which we live. Your Christian brother, Paul
