Well, the sun has been down in eastern North America for about two hours now, and it prompted me to write this good night message for all you wonderful people. In addition to praying for our local church leaders tomorrow, let's not forget, in the hurly-burly activities of sports and picnics, among other leisure time recreational pursuits, those who paid the ultimate sacrifice militarily to ensure our freedoms, especially the freedom to worship God according to the dictates of our own consciences, among other freedoms.

Our inspirational words this evening come from the not always fertile mind of the undersigned. When he became a Christian in 1977 I penned the following poem. Most people who lived in my area thought I was crazy, and I almost threw the manuscript into the trash, but something told me to hold onto it and some day people would recognize the Lord's hand in the writing. The poem is called "New Beginnings," and is rendered as follows:

Every day is a fresh new start,
A chance for a new beginning,
To live better than the day before,
A day to keep from sinning.
This day can be a day to spread
God's love and peace around,
To thank Him for a lovely world
Where Nature's gifts abound.
Each day a new experience,
A time to thank and pray,
And to feast upon His mercies
While we make it our best day!

Not much perhaps, but it was the way I felt after accepting Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior. And now may the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob just keep us safe throughout the night and especially in these last days in which we live. Your Christian brother, Paul
