[Faith-talk] is it wrong to question?

Timothy and John, if I recall correctly there was a book produced a number
of years ago on cassette tape called "The Apocryphal New Testament" by a
person whose last name was Montague. As I recall it was in six cassettes.
And yes, I questioned why some books were put in and others left out. The
Roman Catholic Church and eastern Orthodox Churches use the so-called
apocryphal (actually the term should be "deuterocanonical) books of
Ecclesiasticus, Judith, Baruch, I and II Maccabees, Tobit and additions to
the books of Esther and Daniel. As to the apocryphal New Testament, for
instance, the Gospel of Peter recounts several instances that, when Jesus
was a small boy, if He didn't like anyone for whatever reason, He would kill
them on the spot. It's no wonder why that gospel wasn't included in the
canon of Scripture. I've also heard that the Gnostics believed that Jesus
didn't die on the cross, but rather swooned. So, in these two cases, I can
well understand why some of the writings were not included. Hope that sheds
a little light on the subject. If you still have a cassette player maybe
your librarian at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh can find that book I
mentioned at the beginning of this post. Remember, it was entitled "The
Apocryphal New Testament" compiled by a person named Montague. Paul
